In view of the massive deforestation around the world and in The Gambia in particular, the charity has decided to launch a large tree planting exercise at our three rural schools, with a small number of trees at the urban schools. The plan is to plant an orchard at Kumbija, Loumen and Jamwelly with Pomegranate trees, mango, orange and lime varieties too. The pupils are being taught about the importance of trees with an emphasis on oxygen and helping to control soil erosion. If you would like to help, a tree costs about £3 as a small shoot to plant.
